MITRE Names Sara Prentice Vice President of Communications and External Affairs
McLean, Va., & Bedford, Mass., April 13, 2026 – MITRE has named Sara Prentice vice president of communications and external affairs. In this role, she will lead strategic communications, brand and reputation management, media relations, and engagement with policymakers and key stakeholders.

Prentice brings nearly two decades of leadership experience in communications and public affairs for complex, mission-driven organizations. Prior to joining MITRE, she served as Communications Director at Idaho National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory, where she led an integrated organization spanning executive communications, media relations, digital strategy, stakeholder engagement, and major events. Her team played a central role in advancing the laboratory’s national profile and supporting its mission in energy and national security.
