MITRE Corporation Names Jean Milbrandt CFO
McLean, Va., Oct. 10, 2017—The MITRE Corporation appointed Jean Milbrandt as vice president and chief financial officer. Milbrandt replaces Mark Kontos, who is retiring.
Milbrandt previously served as MITRE’s director of business operations and director of strategy & integration for finance & administration. Before coming to MITRE earlier this year, she worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which is managed by the California Institute of Technology, for 17 years, including serving as controller and manager of finance and contracts since 2004.
Her work at JPL earned her NASA's Outstanding Public Leadership Medal. JPL also honored her on two occasions with its Magellan Award, the organization's highest form of leadership recognition.
Prior to joining JPL, she held various leadership roles in finance and accounting at Raytheon Systems Company in El Segundo, California.
"Jean blends a long background in finance management with a deep commitment to supporting the public interest within an FFRDC model," said Peter Sherlock, MITRE senior vice president and chief operating officer. "She has been repeatedly honored for these attributes in the past, and I look forward to working closely with her as we innovate and make improvements that help our sponsors make the world a safer place."
Through her engagement over the last seventeen years with peers in the consortium of CFOs from FFRDCs, University Affiliated Research Centers and Non-Profits, Milbrandt has developed a deep understanding of the roles these types of institutions play and their unique operational challenges.
She holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from California State Polytechnic University; a master's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California; and a certificate in government contracts management from the University of California, Los Angeles.
