MITRE Names New VPs for Aviation, Homeland Security FFRDCs

Gregg Leone and Yosry Barsoum

McLean, Va., January 16, 2018—The MITRE Corporation pleased to announce the following promotions and leadership changes in their public sector domain.

Yosry Barsoum has been appointed vice president and director of the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HSSEDI) FFRDC. He previously served as MITRE's portfolio director for work with the Office of Secretary of Defense and the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Gregg Leone has been appointed vice president and director of the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), leading MITRE's overall domestic and international civil aviation, aerospace, and transportation strategy and business operations. He previously oversaw MITRE's international aviation portfolio.

In response to emerging complexities in outer space exploration, commerce and security, Scott Kordella, formerly director for MITRE's intelligence community national security space programs, will transition to executive director, outer space systems. In this new role, he will bring MITRE's applied science and emerging technology resources to bear to create more reliable, capable, integrated, and efficient outer space systems. Because these systems are dynamic and complex, Kordella will work broadly with civil, national security, and commercial space communities.

"I'm so pleased to be working with this extraordinary group of technical experts and thought leaders," said Katharyn White, senior vice president and general manager of MITRE Public Sector, "I look forward to the work ahead as we do our part to ensure the security of our nation, and pioneer solutions for a safer world."
