
Brian Abrahamson
Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
Brian Abrahamson is senior vice president and chief operating officer at MITRE. As COO, he works across MITRE to champion a culture of continuous improvement and position MITRE as a benchmark for operational excellence, collaborating with cross-company teams to improve end-to-end operations to support our independent research program and the federally funded research and development centers we operate for government sponsors. He leads teams including corporate strategy, enterprise technology, global security, corporate real estate, and enterprise communications.
Abrahamson joined MITRE from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he served as associate laboratory director and chief digital officer. At PNNL, he delivered operational improvements through digital transformation and led communications and public affairs, information technology, research computing, and enterprise-wide cybersecurity. His innovative approach to operational excellence and passion for simplicity streamlined the research experience and elevated the visibility of PNNL’s mission impact.
Prior to PNNL, Abrahamson led enterprise technology for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities. He also spent more than a decade at Accenture, where he partnered with business and technology leaders at Fortune 250 companies to drive operational efficiency and digital transformation.
Abrahamson holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Gonzaga University.
