Christopher Land
Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary to the MITRE Board of Trustees
Christopher Land is senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary to the Board of Trustees of MITRE. In this role, Land plays a central role in ensuring the responsible stewardship of the federally funded research and development centers MITRE leads in service to the nation.
Land brings more than two decades of legal experience spanning national security, governance, complex litigation, and institutional leadership. Before joining MITRE, he was General Counsel of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where he led the Office of General Counsel in support of the laboratory’s national security mission.
Earlier in his career, Land was General Counsel and Vice President for Legal Affairs at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, advising the president, director, and board of directors on legal, governance, and national security matters. He began his legal career at Goodwin Procter LLP, where he led complex, multidistrict, and international litigation for Fortune 500 clients.
Land earned his bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and his J.D. from Tulane University Law School, graduating Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and multiple federal district and appellate courts.
