Subject Matter Expert
Harvey Reed is the MITRE Decentralization Capability Lead. He champions the adoption of decentralization approaches and blockchain technology, in the space, defense, and supply chain domains.
In FY24 he is leading the use of manufacturing domain ledgers to improve traceability of components across complex supply chains, enabling critical infrastructures to validate their purchased components, as part of a NIST NCCOE project. This traceability effort has created a novel approach to link provenance and pedigree records in time-sequence across industry owned ledgers. Recent space work includes SNARE (Sensor Network Autonomous Resilient Extensible) approach for decentralizing tasking of space sensors, resulting in greater information gain and emergent tip and cue behavior, now in operational prototype in the U.S. Space Force.&
Prior to his decentralization efforts, Harvey was the co-Chair of the DoD Assembled Capabilities Working Group (ACWG) for DoD AT&L and CIO Enterprise Services Data Panel, addressing cybersecurity reciprocity challenges in software reuse and assembly. Prior to that he served as Chief Engineer for a $1.2B U.S. Air Force IDIQ logistics and support infrastructure effort.
Harvey has a B.S. from Purdue in Math and Computer Science, and an M.S. from Georgia Tech in Computer Science. He helped grow the MetroWest Chess Club into the largest weeknight chess club in New England.
