AFCEA has honored Dan Walters, group leader, MITRE’s Secure Electronics Lab, with its Distinguished Young Professional Award for his leadership and guidance within AFCEA and for his technical expertise.
Walters has become one of the nation’s leaders in embedded systems security. He brings together industry, government, and academic partners to raise awareness, build talent, and promote solutions that improve the security of electronic systems.
As a non-profit international organization, AFCEA provides a forum for military, government, and industry communities to collaborate so that technology and strategy align with the needs of those who serve. The Distinguished Young Professional Award recognizes and rewards exceptional performance in four areas: leadership and guidance for the AFCEA Emerging Leader program; superior technical achievement in the professional arena; a record of going above and beyond expectations at the local AFCEA chapter or regional level; and mentoring other AFCEA Emerging Leaders.
AFCEA’s Lexington-Concord Chapter selected Walters as their 2021 Distinguished Young Professional Award honoree. In 2017, Walters was named to the Young AFCEA 40 Under 40 list.
