Seventeen percent of MITRE’s staff self-identify as military veterans. It has always been our organization’s commitment to create an environment where we honor their service while recognizing the incredible wealth of unique experiences, backgrounds, and ideas they deliver. Self-recognition is important, but receiving recognition from others adds a humbling layer of validation to our work.
Military Times has named MITRE to its 2023 Best for Vets: Employers rankings for the second year in a row. The list is based on policies and practices that make companies an attractive place to work for current employees and future job seekers within the veteran community.
Military Times analyzed company efforts to recruit, retain, and support current and former service members, military spouses, and military caregivers. Recruitment and employment practices, as well as retention and support programs, were most heavily weighted in scoring.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Labor has again recognized MITRE’s efforts to hire and support veterans with the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Award. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program honoring employers that have shown a commitment to hiring veterans while also ensuring they have long-term career growth plans.
