FCW: FITARA Scorecard Evolves

The Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA), passed in December 2014, strengthens the role of agency CIOs and provides greater accountability for the delivery of IT capabilities across the federal government. On his new Federal Government Today podcast, host Francis Rose discussed the recent congressional hearing on FITARA with Dave Powner, executive director of MITRE’s Center for Data-Driven Policy.

“Congress deserves kudos for its consistent oversight of the FITARA scorecard, but it’s also time for the scorecard to change,” said Powner. “We’re not getting the returns that we got in the early years, and we really need to look at big challenges like legacy modernization, budgets reflecting needs, and the federal cyber workforce…we need to continue to evolve our cyber metrics.”
