MITRE's Frame-Aligned Synchronous Telemetry (FAST) Video Module embeds small UAS camera parameters in the video stream to enable the near real-time derivation of video target locations and tracks.

Frame-Aligned Synchronous Telemetry (FAST) Video Module
The MITRE-developed FAST video module is a unique capability for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS) to provide telemetry and camera "look angle" metadata that is synchronized and embedded with transmitted video frames from the sUAS.
In the UAS world today, metadata streams are typically transmitted separately and asynchronously from the video. The FAST video module aims to fill the gap to achieve a near-synchronous video telemetry metadata stream. In the COTS sUAS domain, it may not be common to have timestamps associated with the sUAS video that are generated at the aerial platform, thereby making synchronization of the UAS position and camera "look angle" with each video frame all the more difficult. Without this timely information, accurately computing near-real-time video target geo-locations becomes extremely challenging.
The FAST capability is applicable across multiple sectors to include federal, state, and local law enforcement, border security, transportation agencies, and the Open sUAS DevOps Community at large.
