Diverse perspectives and an interdisciplinary approach fuel our innovation. Our wide-ranging independent research program encourages ideas from staff across the company. MITRE funds over 200 research projects a year—leading to broader impact through robust collaborations, direct work programs, patents, and licensed technology.

For example, MITRE's FUSE,
or Frequently-scaled Ultra-wide Spectrum Element,
represents six patents in MITRE's portfolio.
FUSE bridges the global communications infrastructure
by eliminating the need for multiple apertures
for different technologies.
From satellites, ships and planes to 5G.
Multiple Department of Defense agencies consider FUSE
the gold standard for wide band phased array antenna design.
Another MITRE patent, Cygraph,
is a military grade cyber security analytics
and visualization prototype platform.
Delivering predictive models of threats and attacks,
Cygraph translates domain specific language
to provide a common operating picture of cyberspace.
The result?
Minimizing exposure to potential attacks
and optimizing responses to actual attacks.
