Deborah Youmans, vice president and chief information officer at MITRE, has been named a 2026 Federal 100 honoree, recognizing her leadership in advancing secure, mission-driven technology across the federal landscape.

At MITRE, Youmans aligns enterprise technology, cybersecurity, and innovation with the organization’s public-interest mission, enabling engineers, researchers, and government sponsors to address complex national challenges. She leads enterprise computing and information systems, overseeing a broad portfolio that includes secure infrastructure, advanced analytics, and digital services.

In 2025, Youmans played a key role in accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence across government through the establishment of MITRE’s Federal AI Sandbox—a secure, vendor-neutral environment that allows agencies to test and evaluate emerging AI technologies using mission-relevant data. The capability supports applications across national security, public health, infrastructure, and other critical domains, helping agencies reduce risk, improve decision-making, and scale innovation more effectively.
