Military + Aerospace Electronics honored MITRE’s Extremely Wideband Radio Frequency Spectrum Operations (EWO) Testbed with a 2023 Gold Technology Innovators Award, which recognize companies offering substantial military, aerospace, and avionics design solutions.
With the EWO Testbed, MITRE is helping to solve the military’s pressing need for increased spectrum agility and dominance across congested and contested spectrum. Developed in collaboration with government and industry, the EWO Testbed is becoming a premier resource for creating multifunction advanced wideband technologies.
MITRE partnered with Intel Corporation, CAES, and the U.S. Air Force to enable multiple highly integrated, packaged solutions to be developed within the testbed. Based on game-changing wideband technologies, the testbed includes advanced signal processing algorithms, modular phased array antennas, RF electronics, and digitally programmable chips to enable experimentation and evaluation.
As an innovation pipeline to deliver spectrum capabilities for applications ranging from radar to signals intelligence to communications, the EWO Testbed helps develop flexible ways to increase capacity while reducing size, weight, and power in space-constrained systems—saving time, money, and resources.
