The SANS Difference Makers Awards shine a light on tybersecurity practitioners who lead innovative developments in the industry, have made outstanding security achievements, and are contributing back to the InfoSec community in ways that deserve recognition.
This year, MITRE’s Caldera for OT Team was awarded Open-Source Tool Creator of the Year. The three team members recognized for this significant work were Nick Tsamis, Misha Belisle and Blaine Jeffries.
MITRE Caldera™ for OT was made publicly available this year as an extension to the open-source Caldera platform, allowing security teams to run automated adversary emulation exercises that are specifically focused on threats to operational technology (OT).
These first Caldera for OT extensions were developed in partnership between the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute™ (HSSEDI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to increase the resiliency of critical infrastructure.
The awards ceremony took place in Washington, DC on Dec. 13 during SANS Cyber Defense Initiative 2023.
