Increase federal funding for AI alignment research, create a National AI Center of Excellence, and direct federal agencies to strengthen plans for protecting critical infrastructure against AI-powered threats are among the recommendations from a recent MITRE paper offering guidance on AI governance to the next presidential administration.
In a recent article, FedScoop noted that the recommendations in "Assuring AI Security and Safety through AI Regulation" also include issuing an executive order for system auditability and transparency in AI applications.
"This would include requiring AI developers to disclose what data was used to train their systems as well as the foundation models on which their systems were built," the paper states.
