What’s the Issue? The United States needs resilient supply chains to ensure our enduring economic prosperity, health, and national security. Resilient supply chains secure key industries against disruptive system shocks and recover quickly and fully when shocks occur. The combination of extended and fragile global supply chains and strategic cross-industry threats requires a whole-of-nation focus on resiliency to better safeguard against future challenges and maintain our national competitive edge.
What Did We Do? A cross-MITRE team identified supply chain trends and insights from various federal government sectors, the private sector, and research community to develop specific recommendations for the incoming administration.
What Did We Find? Building resiliency in complex, global supply chain systems will require embracing a new role for government: prioritizing strong partnerships among government, industry, and international partners; aligning to prioritized outcomes such as supply chain diversity; and increasing visibility of supply chain operations and participants. The next administration has the opportunity to develop our supply chain strategy and build the partnerships and data infrastructure that will focus supply chain investments and policy toward resiliency.
