Collected MITRE Papers Provide Guidance to New Administration

February 2, 2017

Transition of power after a Presidential election is complicated; preparing the federal government for a seamless shift to a new administration is crucial to continuing important work on behalf of the American people. Consistent with our public interest mission, MITRE is focusing its attention on assisting new administration and career civil service leaders through the transition and beyond to achieve results that matter.

Toward that end, MITRE has compiled a book of topic papers—Delivering Results for the Public: Meeting the Challenges of Today and the Future—that addresses five management priorities that are critical to the business of government and of concern to the public. These priorities are a) Creating the Future, b) Accelerating Acquisition of New Capabilities, c) Protecting Our Information Assets, d) Defending the Nation, and e) Delivering Mission Results. The insights and recommendations proposed in the topic papers are derived from the ongoing, practical guidance we provide our federal agency sponsors to help address critical national challenges. Topics include cybersecurity, federal acquisition, technology, innovation, national security, and other issues critical to our nation's future.

MITRE has provided these topic papers to our government sponsors to inform early planning on these critical management priorities. It is our intention that the ideas and recommendations in this book will suggest pathways to remediation or change that can lead to positive results in a reasonable timeframe.

MITRE will continue to add papers to this collection in the coming months.
