Have social media platforms become a strategic national asset? If so, we should treat them with much more gravity, write Charles Clancy, senior vice president and general manager for MITRE Labs and chief futurist, and Emily Frye, director of cyber integration at MITRE. Designating these platforms as critical infrastructure would “create a structure for a proactive, ongoing dialogue between social media platforms and the federal government and help avoid reactive, precipitous regulation,” they write.
