McLean, Va., and Bedford, Mass., December 9, 2019—MITRE has named Kim Warren vice president of Public Sector Programs within the company's Center for Programs and Technology.
Warren will lead the Center’s technical work and the development of whole-of-government solutions to address challenges in homeland security, aviation and transportation, healthcare, finance and treasury, and the judiciary.
The Center supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Department of the Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
“Kim has a top-notch technical background in computer science and artificial intelligence that is widely applicable across the agencies we serve," said Rich Byrne, senior vice president for programs and technology at MITRE. “She will continue our focus on increasing mission value and developing our people.”
Warren previously served as portfolio director for MITRE's health-focused federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), operated on behalf of CMS and HHS. In that role, she led efforts to empower health consumers and providers, accelerate biomedical innovation, and improve the cybersecurity and safety of the health ecosystem.
Over her 30-year career, Warren has worked across several FFRDCs operated by MITRE. She has helped to shape research and technical capabilities at the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute, which MITRE operates for DHS. She has developed laboratory capabilities for the FAA at the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development FFRDC. She has also developed intelligent technologies for intelligence and defense agencies.
Warren previously worked in software product development for Fortune 500 and international clients and served as global director for Electronic Product Development at General Motors.
Warren earned her bachelor's degree in computer science from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in artificial intelligence from Edinburgh University in Scotland.
